us to celebrate the release
of Richie Mehta’s debut
critically acclaimed film
Amal, a multi-layered portrait
of contemporary India that
follows an auto-rickshaw driver
in New Delhi who is content
with his small, but vital
role in city-life. One day
he drives an eccentric billionaire
G.K. Jayaram who, disguised
as a vagabond, is searching
the streets for the last morsel
of humanity, and someone to
will his fortune to. After
their fateful meeting, both
of their lives are changed
forever. Filmed on location
in New Delhi, India, this
modern day fable questions
the meaning of wealth and
ultimately reveals that sometimes
the poorest of men can be
the richest.
Both Director Richie Mehta
and lead Actor Rupinder Nagra
will be in attendance as well
as many of the cast and crew.
Music will be supplied by
DJ Publicity with a live performance
and accompaniment by Gurpreet
“The Tabla Guy”

which won Telefilm Canada
Pitch This! in 2005,tells
the story of a humble auto-rickshaw
driver in New Delhi. When
he is presented with an unexpected
twist of fate, his life turns
upside down.

and composed music for part
of the score.
Rock
the Tabla is a fusion of music
that brings together a constellation
of some of the brightest rock,
R&B, and pop stars in
the South Asian American and
Canadian music scene. Featuring
Gurpreet Chana, Jungli,
Zerobridge
and Shobha
Share the Love of music and
melody and support a very
important cause! All proceeds
from the event go to the construction
of schools in South Asia.
